Cambodian Mango Traders Receive Customs Approval to Export Directly to PRC
The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has allowed Cambodia to export fresh mangoes directly to its market after the PRC’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) certified 37 mango plantations and five packaging factories as compliant with phytosanitary and packaging standards on 26 April. GACC experts from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held a virtual inspection of mango plantations and steam treatments plants on 10 March.
Gaining direct access to the PRC encourages plantation owners and exporters to develop their plantations from traditional or family-based operations to commercial production, shared Mr. Hun Lak, CEO of Rich Farm Asia Co Ltd, a local agricultural investor.
The GACC continues to receive applications from domestic mango plantations and packaging locations in Cambodia.
The Embassy of the PRC in the Kingdom of Cambodia, on its official Facebook page, lauded the achievement as a milestone in cooperation between Cambodia and the PRC amid the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that it will boost collaboration and provide mutual benefit between two countries in the agricultural sector.
