Working Group on Agriculture (WGA) Events

 

 

Established in 2002, the Working Group on Agriculture (WGA) has been working toward the implementation of priority projects under the Core Agriculture Support Program (CASP).

The working group, which includes senior agriculture officials of GMS countries, currently implements and monitors the Strategy for Promoting Safe and Environment-Friendly Agro-Based Value Chains and Siem Reap Action Plan, 2018-2022.

In tandem with the WGA Secretariat, WGA coordinators, who are senior agriculture ministry officials, are responsible for supervising the implementation of the strategy and action plan, and for reporting regularly to their respective Agriculture Ministers on the status.

 

Green Agri-business and Agri-food Value Chain Growth and Development: Financing and Enhancing Women Agribusiness Entrepreneurs

This upcoming workshop, to be held on 26-27 April in Bangkok, Thailand, and via videoconferencing, aligns with output 1: strengthening climate-friendly, inclusive, and gender-responsive agri-food value chains and agribusinesses of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) technical assistance GMS Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program (SAFSP). 


Virtual Training Workshop on Lancang-Mekong Agro-Products Quality and Safety Inspection and Testing

19th Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Agriculture (WGA)

The 19th Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Agriculture (WGA) will feature the theme "Adaptation of Greater Mekong Subregion Agriculture in the context of Climate Change, and the Water-Food-Energy (WFE) Nexus." There is increasing evidence of substantial trade-offs among water, food, and energy sectors in the GMS and climate change is exacerbating such trade-offs.

COVID-19 Food Security Response and Recovery Actions in Cambodia

The workshop “COVID-19 Food Security Response and Recovery Actions in Cambodia” was held virtually on 3 March 2022. It was led by Cambodia’s national coordinator of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Agriculture (WGA), and attended by about 50 representatives from the government, development partners and the private sector. The workshop discussed priority actions for agriculture and food security in accelerating Cambodia’s response and recovery from COVID-19.


Covid-19 Food Security Response and Recovery Actions in the GMS

This workshop on COVID-19 Food Security Response and Recovery Actions in the GMS to be held on 1 September 2021 will present the first Knowledge Product (KP1) of the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program technical assistance (TA 9916), offering an up-to-date overview of COVID-19 risks and responses and their implications for agri-food value chains around the GMS.

Climate-smart Agriculture in the context of the Water-Food-Energy Nexus

The workshop “Climate-smart Agriculture in the context of the Water-Food-Energy Nexus” will be held on 24 March 2022, supported by the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program (TA 9916). TA 9916 aims to contribute to the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) assistance on the Water-Food-Energy Nexus and assist in promoting cooperation across the GMS in efforts to reduce Nexus trade-offs.
