8th Semi-Annual Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Environment

The 8th Semi-Annual Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE SAM-8) was chaired by Madame Keobang A Keola, Director General, Department of Pollution Control, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and co-chaired by Mr. Sanath Ranawana, Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB).




19th Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Environment

The Nineteenth Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE AM-19) was held in Xiengkhouang, Lao PDR. The meeting was held in parallel to the Working Group on Agriculture’s 10th Annual Meeting, and was preceded by a joint knowledge event on 2 April and a joint field trip on 4 April. WGE AM-19 was organized by Lao PDR’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and the GMS Environment Operations Center (EOC).







20th Annual Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Environment

The 20th Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Environment (WGE AM20) was chaired by Mr. Hla Maung Thein, Deputy Director General, Environmental Conservation Department, Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), Myanmar, and co-chaired by Mr. Sanath Ranawana, Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB).

PRC Expands Biodiversity Corridors, Environmental Protection Efforts

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (24 March 2014) – The People’s Republic of China will expand biodiversity corridors to link 10 nature reserves in the southwestern corner of the country – including critical habitat for the Cao Vit gibbon, one of the rarest apes in the world – following workshops conducted as part of the Greater Mekong Subregion’s Core Environment Program.
