WebGIS Map Monitoring Mekong Delta’s River Banks and Coastline

Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development introduced a WebGIS (geographic information systems) map to monitor the Mekong Delta’s river banks and coastline in June 2018. The WebGIS map has currently received updated data from 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta. 

The tool aims to help provide information about landslides, including length, depth, influences on the environment, and impact on residents. It can help deliver warnings and disseminate information in advance. It uses map-based data, and can include pictures and videos.

Increasing Economic Activities through Night Markets

A pilot project has developed night markets in selected border towns in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) to take advantage of the economic opportunities opened by infrastructure projects in the area.

ADB President Congratulates Greater Mekong Subregion on 25 Years of Successful Cooperation

HA NOI, VIET NAM (31 March 2018) — Asian Development Bank President Takehiko Nakao today congratulated the six member countries at the Summit of the Greater Mekong Subregion on 25 years of successful regional cooperation. He reaffirmed ADB’s continued support to the program, with $7 billion expected over the next 5 years to help the subregion achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development.
