The Nineteenth Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE AM-19) was held in Xiengkhouang, Lao PDR. The meeting was held in parallel to the Working Group on Agriculture’s 10th Annual Meeting, and was preceded by a joint knowledge event on 2 April and a joint field trip on 4 April. WGE AM-19 was organized by Lao PDR’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and the GMS Environment Operations Center (EOC).

This document summarizes the outcome of the knowledge event, Facilitating Green Pro-Poor Value Chains in the Greater Mekong Subregion, held in Xiengkhouang, Lao People's Democratic Republic on 2 April 2013.

The 9th Semi-Annual Meeting of the Working Group on Environment (WGE SAM-9) was chaired by Dr San Oo, Director, Environmental Conservation Department, Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), and co-chaired by Mr. Sanath Ranawana, Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This report presents the methodology and lessons learned from a climate change adaptation study conducted under the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Core Environment Program.

The 20th Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Environment (WGE AM20) was chaired by Mr. Hla Maung Thein, Deputy Director General, Environmental Conservation Department, Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), Myanmar, and co-chaired by Mr. Sanath Ranawana, Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Green infrastructure can play a significant role in offsetting losses from climate-related disasters and contribute to building resilience through rehabilitation and expansion of natural ecosystems within built areas.

Major expansion in the Greater Mekong Subregion power sector will bring added environmental and social pressures, and more attention needs be paid to incorporating greater sustainability into the power planning process.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rungnapar Pattanavibool, Director, Office of International Cooperation on Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand; and co-chaired by Mr. Pavit Ramachandran, Senior Environment Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Project Officer for the Core Environment Program (CEP).

Natural capital has been a key contributor to the Greater Mekong Subregion’s rapid economic growth over the past 3 decades or so, but key natural capital stocks are in a state of decline.
