This is the summary of proceedings from 16th Semi-Annual Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Environment (WGE-AM 16) held on 25 June 2010, as well as the pre-WGE session on 24 June 2010, in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

The Fourteenth Meeting of the Subregional Transport Forum (STF-14) was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR), People’s Republic of China (PRC), on 2-3 December 2010 The Meeting was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport, PRC; the Department of Transport, GZAR; and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

These were the documents produced under the ADB regional project 41018-012: Facilitating Regional Power Trading and Environmentally Sustainable Development of Electricity Infrastructure in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The Seventh Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Agriculture was held on 15-16 November 2010 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

This issue of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Journal of Development Studies features the outputs of four research projects funded by grants under the Research Program of the Phnom Penh Plan for Development Management (PPP).

The Fourteenth Meeting of the Subregional Transport Forum (STF-14) was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR), People's Republic of China (PRC), on 2-3 December 2010 The Meeting was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport, PRC; the Department of Transport, GZAR; and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

In his opening remarks, Dr. Tai welcomed all meeting participants to Ho Chi Minh City and began his address by bringing the meeting to the significance of each offer inputs to the strategic direction that the GMS Core Environment Program and Biodiversity Conservation Corridors Initiative is taking.

This study attempts to quantify the links between infrastructure investment and poverty reduction using a multi-region general equilibrium model, supplemented with household survey data for the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). Infrastructure investment is an important step in economic development, with improvements in transportation infrastructure boosting economic opportunities throughout the region, for example by significantly reducing travel times and costs.

This report reviews and updates the Pre-Investment Study for EWEC conducted in 2001. It consolidates the interests and concerns of stakeholders into a revised and updated strategy and action plan.
