Da Nang to Develop Its Logistics Services to Become a Key Logistics Center for Viet Nam's Central KER and the EWEC

The Da Nang People’s Committee approved a project to develop the city’s logistics services and become a logistics center by 2030 for the central key economic region (KER), which includes the provinces and cities of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Da Nang, and the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC). The city also aims to become the key gateway to the EWEC and an important transport corridor link in Asia-Pacific by 2050.
Da Nang’s advantages in attracting cargo passing through EWEC include its international container port, international airport, and strategic location, according to Duong Tien Lam, head of the representative office of the Viet Nam Logistics Business Association in Da Nang.
However, Da Nang needs to draft policies to encourage increasing the volume of goods in circulation.
Le Thi Kim Phuong, director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, underscored that the city has put forth solutions to research and issue new mechanisms and policies to facilitate container transportation activities via the Da Nang seaport, study the formation of a free trade zone, encourage enterprises to invest in infrastructure construction, and attract investment in the field of logistics, boost trade and investment promotion in the south-central provinces of Lao PDR, and strengthen linkages with logistics associations and enterprises in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and around the world.
