Regional Meeting: One Health in the Greater Mekong Subregion: Where are we now and where next?

Background
The Asian Development Bank and the Nossal Institute for Global Health hosted a virtual meeting titled, “One Health in the Greater Mekong Subregion: Where are we now and where next?” on 3 June 2021 to share lessons learned in the use of multisectoral One Health approaches and priority actions identified under the TA 9571-REG: Strengthening Regional Health Cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). The meeting served as an online forum to (i) discuss the current status of One Health-relevant systems, policies and approaches across the GMS based on examples from the region and Nossal Institute’s review work to date; (ii) introduce and discuss economic approaches for valuing the benefits of One Health across sectors; and (iii) identify and discuss opportunities for further collaboration and priority next steps for One Health in the GMS. Results will contribute to future for technical assistance projects and business processes to enhance One Health actions and new One Health alliances in the GMS.
Over 90 participants, including international technical agencies and officials from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Agriculture of GMS countries joined the meeting. They shared experiences in the use of One Health approach across sectors.
