Seventh Meeting of the Subregional Telecommunications Forum (STCF-7): Summary of Proceedings

The Seventh Meeting of the Subregional Telecommunications Forum (STCF-7) of the Greater Mekong Subregion was held in Guilin, People's Republic of China (PRC) on 30-31 March 2006. It was organized by the Ministry of Information Industry of the PRC and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The STCF-7 meeting discussed the road map for GMS telecommunications development and future GMS cooperation arrangements in relation to the following:

• implementation of GMS Telecoms Flagship program,
• construction of the GMS Information Superhighway Network, and
• the pursuit of ICT for development and poverty reduction.

The meeting also discussed GMS telecoms programs of various development partners in order to promote close coordination among such programs.
