Viet Nam’s North Central Province Taps Wind Energy



Quang Tri province is gearing up to become a center for energy production in the north central coastal region of Viet Nam. It recently approved the development of four 30-megawatt wind power plants worth more than $200 million.

A report from Viet Nam News said Quang Tri GELEX Energy Company will build three of the wind power plants in Huong Hoa District and Dakrong District. Huong Phung Wind Power Company Limited will develop the third power plant in Huong Hoa district.

These wind power projects are expected to be completed in 2021. The power plants will operate for 50 years. 

Quang Tri is targeting to install a total capacity of 800 megawatts in wind power.

Viet Nam is placing stronger emphasis on renewable energy under the National Power Development Plan VII for 2016 to 2030.
