The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Program convened a Development Partners’ Meeting on 20 October 2020 via web-based conferencing.

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) held a Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) on 27 October 2020 via web-based conferencing. It was attended by GMS Senior officials and ADB officials. 

The first Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) will be held online on 21 October 2020. SEADS aims to help crystallize thinking on critical development issues, and to support countries in Southeast Asia in successfully making the transition to becoming high-income, knowledge-based, and sustainable economies. This annual event will serve as a platform for countries to share insights, innovations, and experience on areas of practical policy relevance. 

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a joint virtual dialogue on Labor Migration in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) on 8 September 2020, with the aim of strengthening cooperation through enhanced labor migration management.

This joint virtual dialogue organized by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Labor Migration in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) covering Cambodia, the People’s Republic of China (specifically Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam aims to strengthen cooperation through enhanced labor migration management.

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Environment will present post-COVID-19 environment-friendly and climate-resilient response and recovery efforts in GMS countries on 23 June at 1:30-5:00 p.m. (GMT+7) via Microsoft Teams. Priorities for COVID-19 recovery support by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in themes such as climate action, biodiversity and wildlife management, and sustainable waste management will be discussed. 

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Working Group on Agriculture will present post-COVID-19 response and recovery efforts in agriculture on 25 June at 1:30-4:30 p.m. (GMT+7) via Microsoft Teams. Priorities for COVID-19 recovery support by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in areas such as digital technologies for green agribusiness supply chain management, and livestock health and value chains will be discussed. 

The Third Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Health Cooperation (WGHC-3) was held on 12–13 December 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. WGHC-3 was co-organized by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) of Thailand and the ADB.

The Department of Communicable Disease Control of the Ministry of Health of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) conducted a Regional Workshop on Strengthening Risk Communications for Health Emergencies in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) on 12 to 13 September 2019 in Xieng Kouang Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic (under L3465/G0516-LAO: GMS Health Security Project).

The Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) conducted a Regional Workshop on Identifying Strategies and Policies to Improve Health Services’ Access and Availability for Ethnic Groups and Vulnerable Populations in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) on 12–13 December 2019 in the Don Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane.
